WHAT IS AN AED?
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a medical device used to provide emergency assistance to people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. This device detects abnormal heart rhythms and automatically delivers an electric shock (defibrillation) to help effectively CPR to normal heart rhythm.
If a cardiac arrest victim receives cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) combined with the use of an AED within the first 3 minutes, the chance of survival can increase up to 76%. This device is now mandatory in public places in many countries such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. In several countries like China, Taiwan, India, and Thailand, ...although there is no mandatory law, it is proactively equipped in locations such as trains, airports, buildings, and production areas....
